Traditionally offered during weddings and other big celebrations, Kaak Wark is a staple in the Tunisian pastry catalog. These tiny donut-shaped treats are filled with almond paste and infused with our signature rose water for a distinct flavor and a subtle sweet taste. The perfect way to express happiness and gratitude, Kaak Warka instantly melts in the mouth.
It takes a lot of love, passion and time to make good Kaak Warka. We start by distilling Nesri (Arabic name for sweetbriar), a rose grown on the mountains of Zaghouan, 60 miles south of Tunis. We then mix the Nesri with natural ground almonds. Everything is then rolled by hand in pastry dough and turned into small circles before being baked.
Kaak Warka is THE celebration pastry in Tunisia. It is served to guests at weddings, graduation ceremonies, housewarming parties, and holidays. Its mild sweetness pairs well with mint tea.

My husband loves almond paste so I was hoping he'd liked these. He loved them. The almond flavor is not strong, but the pastry was light with a mild rose finish. Not too sweet.

Beautiful delicate pastry with hint of rose and lovely icing. Not too sweet!
