Saw the link to Layla’s in the New York Times article and ordered the sampler and Kaak Warka. Well the sampler was eaten in 3 seconds and I just ordered more to try as many different things as possible. Samsa Pistachio is for the nut lover. Real depth of nutty flavor. Baklawa pistachio for those who prefer chewy treats and cigare almond for those who like a crispy light almond flavor. The Kaak Warka was deliciously light and not overly sweet which I thought it would be. The rose water flavor is also a light afternote and not ovewhelming. Really nice balance of flavors with a light texture. I am a true fan and so excited to discover something new.
I finally tried these delectable little bites of phyllo and almond. They are addictively delicious with the perfect delicate crunch. They come individually wrapped so you can order them in bulk and readily share a handful with friends or family, by placing them in one of your numerous boxes you have from all the other Layla's treats you have ordered previously!
I have been eating Tunisian Kaak since I was a kid, quality factory made and handmade. I can vouch for these absolutely exquisite and authentic Kaak from Layla's and I am thrilled that I no longer have to wait for the rare overseas shipments that have been getting me by all these years!
